Ungdomshuset will host a special 4-day 30th-anniversary party in october 24th-28th. During theese days there will be lots of different music, but what is most interesting for all you punk/d-beat/hardcore/metal-lovers out there is friday the 26th. This will be the "rock and the like" day, on which one or more old bands will reunite for this one time only. I can't tell you what it is yet, but damn is it good. So be sure to mark a big fat X in your calendar, i promise you will regret it forever if you're not there. Also shitloads of the best local acts will be there!
That was it for now.

Closer look: No Borders Fest at Ungdomshuset
The No Borders-fest at Ungdomshuset, march 9-10th, will present some of the new-ish bands from the K-Town and Malmö scene. Because of that, i'd like to line them up, and add some links and words on the bands. The order of bands is not availible at the moment, so they are in random, except date of course. You can find the organizers invitation here
Friday, march 9th, doors at 21.00, 50 kr.:
URSUT (malmö)
From Malmö and the surrounding area, Ursut is in-line with the swedish crusty d-beat tradition. Having just released a new LP (which is really good, and way beyond the first stuff), Ursut will be an interesting concert. Last time they visited Ungdomshuset was at DIY Punk Fest 2011, one of the best concerts at that festival.
LAUTSTÜRMER (malmö)
Well, it's hard to say much about Lautstürmer that hasn't been said before, especially since they've been on the scene longer than i, haha. Brutal d-beat madness, about to release (very soon!) a new 7'', the rumour says.
SUBHERO (k-town)
Subhero emerge from the Ungdomshuset practice-spaces, and took over the cross-over sound that Chainsaw Brigade (sometimes) did. Then add some serious guitar-shredding, and there we go. Having just released a demo and continuously writing new material, it will be interesting to see what these guys are up to.
BRUDTE LØFTER (k-town)
Brand new band, doing the more traditional K-Town hardcore-thing. Reminds a lot of Amdi Petersens Armé (absolutely not a bad thing). They have just recorded some fast demo-tracks, but have already gotten shitloads of gigs.

There is something with swedes and catchy as hell punkrock, and this is another proof of that. Another (almost) brand-new punk band, that could be placed genre-wise close to swedish Terrible Feelings.
Saturday, march 10th, doors at 20.00 (remember afternoon-programme from 16.00), 50 kr.:
ANATOMI 71 (malmö)
Well, on with d-beat again, another one of the käng-torchbearer bands. This one has a lot of records and gigs behind them, so you're in for a treat. Actually i've never seen them before, so i'm very pep myself!
COMMIE COWBOYS (k-town)
Good, cathcy and snotty punkrock with references to the late 70's. Promising band that has done quite a few gigs during the past months. Gotta say i love the name too, especially 'cause it fits the genre so well.

DÅRLIGT SELSKAB (k-town)
"Old" punx (from tons of old bands - the ones every k-town punk knows) get together, and starts a new band, making the name "Bad Company" (translated) even better. No one has heard them except themselves, meaning it will be a must-see concert.
CRUTCHES (malmö)
New d-beat madness with members from various Malmö-based bands. Releasing a demo very soon (rumour has it that you'll be able to buy it at the festival) with a good amount of their material. More hardcore-inspired than the classic käng-styled bands, and damn, its fast!
THE WAR GOES ON (k-town)
Where to start... This band has members from all around the K-Town scene, but frankly it speaks very much for it self. Dangerously cathcy melodic punkrock with the most embittered lyrics you'll find - ever. Really good, and one of my favorite live acts.
Thats all the bands! DJ's will appear as well, and much more stuff is going on, but i'll leave the non-musical parts to you. Check the link at the top!

Videos from the Bumzen-gig, friday feb. 10th
Some nice person uploaded a couple of videos from last fridays two debut-concerts with Brudte Løfter and Dogmatist. Next gig with Dogmatist (as far as i'm concerned) is at Stengade together with Crude(!!). Brudte Løfter will be playing (as far as...) at No Borders Fest together with 9 other bands.
In addition, Brudte Løfter has put up some demo-tracks on Bandcamp. Take a listen here!

Back to attack: FEBRUARY 2012 UPDATED
Some more stuff added...
So, after a quiet january, february will be busy as hell. There's a lot of double-bookings, so it will look quite messy:
So, after a quiet january, february will be busy as hell. There's a lot of double-bookings, so it will look quite messy:
2nd: THIS GIFT IS A CURSE (swe), HEXIS (kbh) start of their tour at Ungdomshuset, Dortheavej 61, and ABSCISSION (kbh) will play as well. All the bands make use of a new school-ish mix of black -and deathmetal with lots of hardcore-elements. Doors: 20.00, Entry: 40 kr.
10th: DOGMATIST, SKURV and BRUDTE LØFTER playing at Bumzen, Baldersgade 20. Dogmatist and Brudte Løfter is two completely new ktown hardcore-acts, both promising to deliver a raw sound, good times and headaches. The gig is their debut-show as well! Skurv (kbh) is described as "youth-crew scooter oi". I'll leave it at that. Doors: 21.00, Entry: 35 kr.
10th: PUNKS UNDEAD VOL. 23 at Magstræde, w/ PORNO DVÆRG (hellsingør), PIS (kbh), THE GRAVE IS NOT THE END (roskilde) and DEN YDERSTE DAG (kbh). A pretty wide mix of never bands from Ktown and the surrounding area. Kiddie-punk, horrorpunk, drunkpunk and crustpunk will all be represented. Doors: 20.00, Entry: 40 kr.
11th: GOOD NIGHT WHITE PRIDE support-bash at Ungdomshuset, Dortheavej 61. Loads of stuff will happen, to much for a few lines, so check out the link. One hall is electro-stuff, the other will be metal and punk with some crusty DJ's you might recognize... Doors: 19.00, Entry: free until 21.00, after that: 50 kr.
11th: FUNEBRARUM (us), UNDERGANG (kbh), DEFILEMENTORY (udstrup) and MOLD (kbh) at Loppen, Christiania. Really promising death metal show put up by the good people in the Kill-Town crew. Both a debut-concert, tour-band and a record-release at the same gig. Doors: 21.00, Entry: 70 kr.
14th: KYLESA (us) + Support at Beta Club, Amager. Kylesa is one of those bands that can do anything, and therefore youre never sure what to expect. They've got some awesome crusty tunes as well as close-to-traditional thrashy stuff, and from what i've heard it is always a good show. Doors: 20.00, Entry: 135 (so it better be good...).

17th: FOREVER DOOMED #2:BOTTOM FEEDER (kbh), TORCHLIGHT (kbh), UNION OF SLEEP (de) and DJ Grief + DJ Jens Franco at Ungdomshuset, Dortheavej 61. The darker genres continue to take a big bite of this month with this all-sludge gig! Doors: 21.00, Entry: 40 kr.
18th: BLACK FAG (us) and MISS FISH & THE DROWNERS (kbh) at Stengade 30. No, there is not an "L" missing in Black Fag and yes, they are approved by the actual Black Flag. This sets new standards for queercore, and with as good and entertaining support as Miss Fish, nothing can go wrong. Doors: 21.00, Entry: 50 kr. 24th: CRUTCHES (malmö), KYLMÄ SOTA (fin) and INFERNÖH (malmö) at Rex, Malmö. Another punk gig at the Rex Pizzeria, this time raw-punk only. Doors: 19.00, Entry: No idea?
25th: CAULDRON (can) + STRIKER (can) + SINISTER CREATION (kbh) at Stengade 30. Cauldron provides the classic heavy metal, Striker makes makes sure that things are speeded up a bit as well with clear Judas Priest references, while Sinister Creation is doing oldschool NWOBH! Doors: 21.00, Entry: 80 kr.

Rumour-spreading: crusty-acts near K-town in april+may!
So as you might have guessed, this is about some bands showing up for gigs near Copenhagen. The bands are Instinct of Survival and Cluster Bomb Unit, both bands really worth your time!
April 21st
Instinct of Survival are scheduled to play at Elværket, Helsingør on 21st of april together with two local bands, Den Yderste Dag and Avfart 33. Some DJ-stuff appear to be booked as well, and word is that booking is not finished yet. Exciting!
Instinct of Survival are a stenchcore-band based in northern germany. Their music reminds a little of a crusty version of Bolt Thrower's earlier stuff. I especially find the vocals (2 of 'em) to be very well done, mean and brutal - and working very good together.
Den Yderste Dag, well i guess you know what it is, at least if you follow this blog or have checked out the links. Otherwise: do it, since i don't want to brag about my own band, ha!
Avfart 33 is a d-beat/raw-punk band from Malmö sweden. Since i just posted a blog about their new stuff, i think you should check it out there. And yes, their new stuff is still awesome!
May 12th
Cluster Bomb Unit are also going to play at Elværket, but on the 12th of may. No bands except them confirmed yet, but rumour is, that it will be a big one for crusties. Some DJ-booking is on its way though, or so i've heard.
Cluster Bomb Unit are also based in Germany. A quite old band, today they are still touring and doing lots of gigs. To be honest i don't know that much about them. Their sound is classic raw-punk-ish, but some of their stuff also has a much more crustpunk sound to it. I guess it's up to you to define.
Bottomline is: Shit is going down this spring.

Worth your while: JANUARY 2012 - updated
December was a very good month for
gigs, and there was many. January is going to be a little more
low-key, but still a lot of good stuff is going to take place!
- Unknown date, january: Possible Antifa bus-trip to Berlin. Nazi bastards attacked a house-project in Berlin. The danish antifascist media Projekt Antifa reports that there might be a possibility to go to Berlin by bus, if there is going to be demonstrations against the nazis, so keep an eye on their site! Read about the attack here.
- 4th: Warsong, Nu Jävlar and Commie Cowboys. First punk/hardcore-gig of the year! Three really good bands kicking ass at Ungdomshuset. I am looking much forward to this, and all three bands are very well-played. It will be one of those you don't want to miss. If you're more of a Malmö-type, you can catch Warsong together with The War Goes On, january 3rd at Pizzeria Rex.
- 10th: Queer self-defence workshop. If you have never practiced self-defence, now should be the time to start, especially if you concider yourself a queer. HXN and Mads, a good blogger by the way, will be doing this workshop in Ungdomshuset.
- 13th: HT DIY: The Grave Is Not TheEnd, Ajuna and Shock Tilstand. Three bands that i don't know, but show up and support the Helsingør DIY-scene.
- 14th: Death Metal Two slovak death bands on tour and localmetal-punkers. I'm looking forward to see what this is all about. The local punks i can vouche for, thats for sure!
- 16th: Mastodon at Vega. If you got the cash, some of Mastodons earlier records are definately worth your while. The venue is total shit though, so drink your beers elsewhere.
- January 28th: BUMZEN Birthday party. A nice old squat, now legalized has a birthday party. Nice people, and i have been told they're booking nice music as well. More info later. Booked so far is Den Yderste Dag.
- 30th: Kingdom + Wrong Answer in Lund, Sweden.
Oh and by the way, have a good new years, because it will be the last one.

Some updates
CRUSTMASS
Wow, Crustmass was a big succes, shitloads of people and awesome concerts!
I am going to wait a bit writing about that gig, since we're at the moment waiting for videos and pictures to be fixed. As soon as that happens it will be uploaded. From what i've heard, it is some good stuff...
I am going to wait a bit writing about that gig, since we're at the moment waiting for videos and pictures to be fixed. As soon as that happens it will be uploaded. From what i've heard, it is some good stuff...
CALENDAR
The calendar feature will as well be updated pretty soon (after december 26th).
STUFF TO CHECK OUT
My bud K finally released his blog. Because of our common work, a lot of the stuff posted on our blogs about gigs will be similar, but our approach is often very different.
A new distro in Ungdomshuset, called Distribution 61, opened recently, various political records ranging from hiphop to crustpunk. It's open at the same hours as the house's bookcafé. Check the hours here.
The Warsong/Nu Jävlar/Commie Cowboys-gig 4th of january will for sure be a blast, and since it's early next year, and therefore not in the calendar, here's a heads up.

SKITKIDS and HJERTESTOP: Ungdomshuset got turned into an insane asylum
The Skitkids // Hjertestop final gig at Ungdomshuset, december 3rd was insane. But who did'nt see that coming.
Thanks to the people who uploaded all the stuff i link to in this article, and please tell me if any of you find Slöa Knivar on the web somewhere except Amazon...
Photos from all the gigs here.
Lautstürmer - Malmö
First band to play was Lautstürmer, local swedish crust-act that have just done a Brazil-tour. Very d-beat/käng-ish and uptempo, and tight as fuck. It must have been a couple of years since i saw them, and damn have they improved. Check them out if they're nearby your town and you have a fetish classic swedish rawpunk/d-beat. Until then, download their stuff here and here.
Slöa Knivar - Malmö
Next up was Slöa Knivar, also local swedish stuff, but punkrock with a hardcore-touch. I honestly have to admit, that i can't remember seing a concert with them before, but i probably have, thank you booze... The guitar-driven instrumentals is very cathcy and melodic, but still has an edge. The lead-singer was amazing, jumping around, standing on hands and most important: doing amazing raw vocals that actually reminded me a little of Nausea. Listen to their stuff here.
HJERTESTOP
Hjertestop was next, one of the most significant punkbands to emerge from the danish scene in the 00's. Personally i didn't expect Hjertestop to ever stop playing, at least not now, so it was a sad moment when i first heard about this final gig.
The concert was everything i expected, a tour through all of their best song, my personal favorites being "Ind i Lejren" and "Vold overalt", both with simple and catchy lyrics that any punk in Copenhagen knows.
I could brag on about their music, but since i figure most of you know them already i say to the ones who don't: Check it out yourselves! You can find a full list of their releases at The Fat Punk. Here is also a couple of videos from the gig, thanks to the uploader. I saw many cameras the whole night, so more will probably turn up!
SKITKIDS
One of the first punkbands from the DIY-scene i got a record with, Skitkids has always meant something special to me, and the (sadly) few shows i've seen with them have been good, every single time.
Extremely well-played hardcorepunk, with strong influences from the swedish råpunk/d-beat-scene it seems, their sound is very distinct. Especially the guitar got a very special feel to it, more rock'n'roll than punkrock, which i think is where the difference is.
Their act as a whole is always insane, this last time it featured a monkey, a pig (yes, a cop of course), sexy silk-boxers and chili-sauce for sale in their distro. Sounds good, hu?

EARLY FESTIVAL-GUIDE AND RUMOURS
2012 is almost here, and with a new year comes a lot of planning for next years festivals.
For some time, Copenhagen has had a strong tradition when it comes to DIY music-festivals, in particular very focused ones, which i prefer over the larger ones like Roskilde and Wacken. I could write endless amounts of text on festivals, as there are so many, but here is the ones i find important for Copenhagen and i for sure will attend. At some point closer to the festivals i will write some more on them.
Warning: Rumours and shittalk at the end of this article.
HEAVY DAYS IN DOOMTOWN, MAY 3rd-6th
Part of the group that did (and does) the succesfull Kill-town festival are doing a doom/sludge festival. This year it will take place in no less than 3 venues; Loppen, Stengade and of course Ungdomshuset. The bookers have promised no less than 28(!) bands, which is a huge amount for a first-timer. Pretty impressive! So far 21 bands are confirmed, check them out here. To be fair, i'm all new in the doom/sludge scene, but the local bands i've seen and heard many times, and they are very good. Check out Moonless, a very catchy and groovy band, amazing vocals and c-parts. Also, check out Pyramido, they got some extremely heavy and brutal riffs, which i'm a sucker for. Last but not least i am looking very much forward to see Aguirre, combines crust with doom/sludge, and they also just released new material, interesting stuff!
The festival will also include food and different activities, but the far most interesting thing except of course the music, will be the focus on DIY-art. You can read about that here.
MINI-BLACK METAL FESTIVAL, APRIL 20-21st
This festival as well will take place in Ungdomshuset, and it is the first time - as far as i'm concerned, that anyone tries to make a more-than-one-day black metal only gig/festival. While i am not that much into black metal, i know that some of you out there are, so be sure to check this out! So far not much has been confirmed , but rumour has it, that a total of 6 black metal-bands will play over two days. At the moment three bands are confirmed, two anarchist (no bullshit) bands from Canada, Æsahættr and Thantifaxath. Solbrud is also confirmed, very good local stuff.
DIY PUNK FEST, JUNE
This festival is soon to be confirmed, but it will happen, and it will be as crazy as last year!
KILLTOWN DEATH FEST, SEPTEMBER
While 100% confirmed, no news on this festival at the moment, but judging from the two last years, it will be a blast. Focusing on death metal in all its forms, with bands both from Europe and abroad, this 2012 edition of this monster is certainly a no-miss.
Rumours and shittalk
Rumours are fun, and i bet some of this will be true, some not.
No matter what, don't hold me acountible:
- The swedish Punk Illegal-festival will not happen, which sucks. I really hope the crew will do another one next year, as it was my favorite! Sadly this is not a rumour.
- There will - maybe - be a Copenhagen/Malmö hardcore and punk-fest in the beginning of march 2012. Nothing 100% confirmed, but if it will happen be sure to check it out.
- December 21st 2012 is of course the end of the world. Some kind of one-day festival will take place here. It will only be one day though. Reason? There is no the 22nd.
tirsdag den 29. november 2011
WORTH YOUR WHILE: December
December is packed, i tell you. Here is a short guide to some of the most interesting in my opinion:
- 2nd: Benefit party in support of an antifa-fieldtrip to stop a bunch of nazis in Stockholm. Check it out here.
- 3rd, afternoon: The Projekt Antifa lecture has been cancelled but will happen some time in the future.
- 3rd, evening: A gig of epic proportions will for sure take place when SKITKIDS and HJERTESTOP plays their last concert. Ever. Show up or have no taste. More local acts too, especially Lautstürmer will be a good one to check-out!
- 4th: Pentagram at Loppen.
- 16th: Crustmass! As described in my previous blog.
- 26th: Rhytm and blues barnight at Ungdomshuset. You're probably thinking "why the hell are you posting this pile of crap on a crustie-blog!?" Well, because it is not RnB, it's blues and Rocknroll!
OLD AND NEW GRAPHICS
Here's a bunch of flyers for past shows. Some of them i did together with my booking-buddy K and a couple i or he did alone. His blog should be up and running pretty soon...

MERRY CRUSTMASS AND A HORRIFIC NEWYEAR
First blog is a commercial. And it suits the season. What a start. Well this is the deal: Some time ago a group of crusty bookers i K-Town did these awesome gigs called "Crust Mass", but there for a couple of years or so, so my buddy K and i thought: "Well this is a bloody shame, Hell, lets do it again!"
It's going down like this:
4 crust-acts (some more rawpunk and dbeat than others). 3 of them is from Sweden (the land of crustpunk, IKEA and insanely expensive beer), fucking crusty dbeat destruction. Check them out here, here and here. The danish band is actually a project i'm involved in, no link yet. But come on k-town'ers: Start playing some stench/crust/dbeat!
Price is 50 DKK (may be lowered), its the 16th december from 21.00, in Ungdomshuset, Dortheavej 61, Copenhagen. See you there!
If i am still alive after this i will hopefully write some more or less constructive about the gig, possibly some reviews or something similar. Check back soon again...
