The Skitkids // Hjertestop final gig at Ungdomshuset, december 3rd was insane. But who did'nt see that coming.
Thanks to the people who uploaded all the stuff i link to in this article, and please tell me if any of you find Slöa Knivar on the web somewhere except Amazon...
Photos from all the gigs here.
Lautstürmer - Malmö
First band to play was Lautstürmer, local swedish crust-act that have just done a Brazil-tour. Very d-beat/käng-ish and uptempo, and tight as fuck. It must have been a couple of years since i saw them, and damn have they improved. Check them out if they're nearby your town and you have a fetish classic swedish rawpunk/d-beat. Until then, download their stuff here and here.
Slöa Knivar - Malmö
Next up was Slöa Knivar, also local swedish stuff, but punkrock with a hardcore-touch. I honestly have to admit, that i can't remember seing a concert with them before, but i probably have, thank you booze... The guitar-driven instrumentals is very cathcy and melodic, but still has an edge. The lead-singer was amazing, jumping around, standing on hands and most important: doing amazing raw vocals that actually reminded me a little of Nausea. Listen to their stuff here.
HJERTESTOP
Hjertestop was next, one of the most significant punkbands to emerge from the danish scene in the 00's. Personally i didn't expect Hjertestop to ever stop playing, at least not now, so it was a sad moment when i first heard about this final gig.
The concert was everything i expected, a tour through all of their best song, my personal favorites being "Ind i Lejren" and "Vold overalt", both with simple and catchy lyrics that any punk in Copenhagen knows.
I could brag on about their music, but since i figure most of you know them already i say to the ones who don't: Check it out yourselves! You can find a full list of their releases at The Fat Punk. Here is also a couple of videos from the gig, thanks to the uploader. I saw many cameras the whole night, so more will probably turn up!
SKITKIDS
One of the first punkbands from the DIY-scene i got a record with, Skitkids has always meant something special to me, and the (sadly) few shows i've seen with them have been good, every single time.
Extremely well-played hardcorepunk, with strong influences from the swedish råpunk/d-beat-scene it seems, their sound is very distinct. Especially the guitar got a very special feel to it, more rock'n'roll than punkrock, which i think is where the difference is.
Their act as a whole is always insane, this last time it featured a monkey, a pig (yes, a cop of course), sexy silk-boxers and chili-sauce for sale in their distro. Sounds good, hu?
